Sad day for my MacBook

I know it’s been a few days since I’ve posted, but no worries, it’s not because I fell off the Whole30 wagon. I have been doing well and feeling better. No, I haven’t been able to post because my computer isn’t working properly. The battery is dead and the clicker thing below the trackpad isn’t working. It’s an old MacBook, and I can’t afford another one unfortunately. So now I am posting via iPhone. It’s a pain in the ass, so don’t expect a bunch of pictures or copy, because the keyboard I have to work with is itty bitty.

It’s day eight of my Whole30 and the cravings are finally starting to subside. It got pretty bad on day five. I started tearing up and was ready to quit. Thankfully, I had Robert around to convince me otherwise. Luckily though, I’m not as whiny or moody as I was just a few days ago. I could only imagine how annoyed he probably was, but that’s mostly in the past now. I throw a little tantrum every time someone posts cupcakes or cookies on their Instagram feed (you can follow me @ms_jaynes), but it’s definitely not as bad as it used to be.

I made a couple awesome recipes this week too, including tamales. I’m not a huge tamale fan to begin with, but I found a paleo version, and I actually like them better than the authentic ones. I’ll be experimenting and posting about those a little later.

In fact, this whole post will have to be put on hold until I can get me hands on another computer. There’s a self-reflection worksheet I need to post, but that’s just way to much typing on this iPhone keyboard.

Sunday Funday at the Farmer’s Market

Went to a small Farmer’s Market this morning down the street. It was fun shopping for fruits and vegetables that I have never used or tasted before. I don’t know what some of them are even called, but I’ll figure out what to do with them tomorrow when I am prepping my meals for the week.

I threw a little bit of a for after going to the market because the boys wanted to go to the Original Pancake House, and I didn’t think I was quite ready to be surrounded by so much sweet deliciousness, but I sucked it up. I admit I was a little dramatic when I would barely open the menu because I didn’t even want to see all of the pancakes. But I know it would be torture if I would have read the descriptions of any of them. I kept it Whole30 compliant with a Baja scramble though. Even though I wanted to taste everything in sight.

Daily Log:

Sleep: About 7.5 hours of sleep last night. I was exhausted after work. We were slammed from the moment I walked in the door at 5:30 p.m. until about 11 o’clock. I was running my ass off all night.
Activity: Gym is closed again today, so not a whole lot of activity. Wanted to take the dog for a walk, but decided to relax after the food coma from this morning’s breakfast.
Mood: Felt good this morning at the Farmer’s Market, but kind of upset when I found out we were going to the Original Pancake House for brunch. Everyone, I mean literally everyone, around me had something sweet and delicious on their table. French toast, waffles, pancakes, German pancakes, crepes, toast, biscuits, syrup, powdered sugar, custards, compotes… My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I caved and got sliced bananas with my meal. Feel guilty now, even though bananas ARE Whole30 approved, I shouldn’t have given in to my brain telling me to eat something sweet. Oh well. It’s done now. Not feeling too tired again today. No lull, but then again I did have to go to work around my usual nap time. I find myself gritting my teeth a lot because I am starting to get angry when I, or someone else, tells me I can’t have something. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be worse. This is my official apology to anyone who has to be around me this week. I don’t really mean the awful things I say when I am hungry and craving sugar.
Food:
Breakfast: Went to the Original Pancake House. Was miserable at first, but that’s where everyone else wanted to go, so I sucked it up and had scrambled eggs with jalapeño, tomato, onion, cilantro, and chorizo. But I did have a sliced banana…
Lunch: Buffalo chicken salad with a baked yam
Dinner: Sweet sauce pork chops with a side of mixed vegetables from work and a bacon and chive sweet potato biscuit
Snacks: A handful of Trader Joe’s raw trek mix and a hard-boiled egg with salt and pepper
